Transfer News: Chelsea owner Todd Boehly reportedly held a meeting with the agent of Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo last week and allegedly discussed an unexpected move to Stamford Bridge.
The Athletic said Todd Boehly, who became the Blues’ new owner after buying him from Roman Abramovich last month, with super agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal.
It is claimed that the talks covered a number of topics including Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Old Trafford as well as the possibility of the Portuguese legend moving to Chelsea, who are currently looking for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
As is known, Lukaku is getting closer to securing a loan deal to Inter Milan for a season after failing to prove himself since returning to Stamford Bridge in the summer of last year for a price of 97.5 million pounds (Rp1.7 trillion).
The Blues are also reportedly interested in Robert Lewandowski, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Richarlison in their search for a new striker. However, five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo, seems to be the new target after the meeting between Boehly and Mendes.
The 37-year-old has 12 months left on the two-year contract he signed when he rejoined Manchester United last year. He has scored 24 goals in 38 appearances for the Red Devils in the 2021-22 season.
Although arguably quite successful at United, Ronaldo is believed to be considering his future after they were only able to finish sixth in the Premier League and failed to secure the Champions League competition.
