Football News: Manchester United need a new goalkeeper to fill the third goalkeeper slot in Erik ten Hag’s side. The Red Devils’ radar then pointed to Newcastle United’s goalkeeper, namely Martin Dubravka.
After the contract from Lee Grant was terminated by the club at the end of last June, Manchester United now practically only has two senior goalkeepers in the first team, namely David De Gea and Tom Heaton.
The Red Devils actually still have the name Dean Henderson.
However, the England goalkeeper refused to be a substitute for De Gea and decided to spend a loan period at Nottingham Forest until next year.
The shortage in the reserve goalkeeper sector has also made MU associated with a number of names ranging from Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt) to Tim Krul (Norwich City).
And now the list has grown to three due to the launch of the latest report Sky SportsManchester United are said to be interested in Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Dubravka himself is actually Newcastle’s number one goalkeeper in recent seasons.
But following the arrival of Nick Pope from Burnley this summer, the Slovakian goalkeeper is now only a substitute at St James Park.
Still from the report Sky SportsManchester United have reportedly opened initial contact with Newcastle regarding the transfer of Dubravka.
Erik ten Hag’s side are said to be looking to loan Dubravka for a season.
If the 33-year-old goalkeeper’s performance is satisfactory, then the Red Devils will only make his status permanent next year.
Both sides clearly have to find a bright spot regarding this transfer considering that the 2022 summer transfer window will close in less than a week.
