The light chassis is the secret to Max Verstappen's success in the last four series

F1 News: Max Verstappen said that the weight of the Red Bull RB18 car is now much lighter and more balanced so it has been able to appear competitive in the last few series.

Max Verstappen continues to assert his dominance in the 2022 F1 championship. The driver has even recorded 10 wins from 15 races he has played this season. It made him top the standings with a total of 310 points.

Verstappen had a difficult time at the beginning of the 2022 season. The young Dutchman even only scored points in two of the first three races.

But now the situation has changed 180 degrees. From a total of 10 wins, he managed to win four in a row.

The record started since the races in France, Hungary, Belgium, and most recently in the Netherlands. Verstappen said that the lighter weight of the Red Bull RB18 was the key to his team’s current hegemony.

“The last few races have been very good. But, as I’ve said before, it’s more because of the weight of the car,” he was quoted as saying by Racing News 365.

At the start of F1 2022 the RB18 land jet was indeed overweight. This was also experienced by several teams. However, a number of improvements managed to make the Die Roten Bullen car lighter.

Max Verstappen also explained that the Austrian manufacturer’s car had an uneven balance due to the chaotic weight distribution. This is what makes it appear less competitive.

“Initially this car was overweight. It didn’t help the balance of the car. Because it makes the car lazy and the weight distribution is messy. That makes the car a little understeer,” he revealed.

This weekend Verstappen and his other premier class riders are performing at the Italian GP. For your information, in FP1 the 24-year-old youth had lost to the Ferrari duo, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. He was only able to secure fifth position.

Even so, the leader of the standings is still optimistic that he can record his fifth victory in a row in the main race which took place on Sunday (11/9).
