Saelemaekers Grateful for AC Milan's Draw Against RB Salzburg –

Football News: Alexis Saelemaekers is grateful that AC Milan can get a point in the opening match of Group E of the 2022/23 Champions League, after a 1-1 draw against RB Salzburg this morning (7/9).

Visiting the headquarters of RB Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena, AC Milan had to fall behind first through the action of Noah Okafor who successfully tricked Pierre Kalulu and goalkeeper Mike Maignan in the 28th minute.

Milan then managed to equalize 12 minutes after the goal, through Alexis Saelemaekers flick which utilizes assists from Rafael Leao on the left wing.

There were no more goals that were created after Saelemaekers’ goal and the score drew 1-1 had to be satisfied with being accepted by both sides.

“I’m very happy to be able to help the team today,” said Saelemaekers in an interview with Sky Sport Italy.

“It was an intense game from both teams. I think we did quite well and should continue this kind of performance in the next Champions League game.”

At the same event last season, Milan only became a cheerleader in the group stage after sitting as caretaker after six matches.

According to Saelemaekers, this bitter experience has been used as a valuable lesson by the Milan players.

The Belgian player said if his team this season is targeting to qualify for the round knockout.

“This competition is obviously very different from Serie A, but we have a strong squad and want to talk a lot in this competition.”

“We will play game by game and we’ll see where we stand. Even so, what is clear is that we always want to make beautiful achievements in this competition,” concluded the player.
