Revealed, Benzema's Factor Becomes Real Madrid's Goal-Hungry Bomber –

Spanish League News: Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema confirms that the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has fueled his ambition when it comes to scoring goals.

After reaching unprecedented heights with Real Madrid, Ronaldo left the club to join Juventus in 2018 after nine years with the Spanish giants. And, in the years since, the French forward has been more than capable of filling the club’s top goalscoring role. He has admitted that he had to perfect himself after Ronaldo’s departure.

“It’s true I have scored more goals since he left, but when he was here I helped and he helped me a lot on and off the pitch,” he told a news conference ahead of the UEFA Super Cup.

“But I know I can do more. When he left, it was time to change my game and my ambitions and so far it is going well,” he continued, as reported by Goal.

Although he initially joined from Lyon in 2009, he has largely remained in Ronaldo’s shadow, scoring 20 league goals just twice before Ronaldo’s departure in 2018. He has scored at least 21 goals in each of the last four seasons since, scored 131 goals in all competitions while helping Madrid lift the Champions League trophy last season.
