Nunez gets red card, Gary Neville sends sympathy message

[ad_1] –

Premier League News: Prominent pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville sympathizes with Darwin Nunez following his red card in Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The Uruguay striker received a red card from referee Paul Tierney following his header at Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Neville called Nunez’s antics a ‘crazy moment’. The former player also recalled a time when he had an incident on the pitch, similar to the Liverpool forward.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “It’s a moment of madness. We don’t know why he did it. I’ve done two or three things like this in my career. We don’t know why we reacted. We don’t know. We went out and thought ‘ what did I just do’ – honestly.

“I kicked the ball at a fan at Everton and did the same in the game against Steve McManaman. It was completely unconscious.”

Former United also stated that getting a red card was one of the worst things that could happen to a footballer. He gives several stories about what a player goes through after being expelled.

“When you get kicked out like that, it’s the loneliest place in the world. You may have a kit man, but that’s terrible. You are in the dressing room and your teammates are off the pitch. You’ve gone out and left them helpless and you feel really bad.”
