NBA Basketball News: Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Scottie Pippen Jr. admitted that he was very disappointed when he was not selected in the 2022 NBA draft.
“Yeah of course it’s disappointing. I think I did everything well, especially during the Combine. I think I performed well. I had about 15 or 20 trainings where I was in a good position to sign. But, you know, things happened for a reason,” he said.
“I never questioned it. When I don’t hear my name being called, there is still disappointment, but I think nothing suits me better than coming to the Lakers and coming home. It’s still a dream come true. Being able to play for such an organization which is competing for the championship and is a place where I feel like I fit in.”
Eventually, Scottie Pippen Jr signed a two-way deal with the Lakers over the summer and went on to have an impressive Summer League season, averaging 11.8 points, 4.8 assists and showing his quick hand on defense by collecting 2.6 steals.

Like many NBA players who have proven to be valuable assets, Pippen will remember the feelings he felt during draft night, and share how he turned them into motivation for a stronger work ethic.
“I think it always adds fuel to the fire every time you count. The same thing happened to me in high school. Then I was recruited to college and I went to college and did my job. Just trying to prove to the next level where I can compete and prove where I am. It definitely adds more chips to my shoulder and more motivation to work harder.”
