Italian League News: Former AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic had told him that he would be suitable to play at Barcelona.
Speaking at his recent introduction as a new Blaugrana player, Kessie explained that he had spoken to Ibrahimovic about the possibility of a move to Camp Nou on a free transfer and the veteran Rossoneri bomber suggested he would fit in at the Spanish club.
“I’ve spoken to Ibra, yes, and he told me I would be a good fit. My position on the pitch will be decided by the coach, I’m just thinking about working.”
The Swedish legend spent two seasons at Barcelona between 2009 and 2011. He scored 16 goals in 29 games for the La Liga giants, but the transfer turned out to be fruitless. He was then loaned to Milan and eventually joined permanently in his first spell at the club.
The Ivory Coast international’s contract with the Rossoneri expired at the end of the 2021-22 season and most of the issues surrounding him during the second half of last season were about his future.
As soon as it became clear he would not renew his contract with Milan, Kessie then agreed to a partnership with Barcelona. He also stated that he had a great desire to start his new adventure.
“I want to get to know the coach and the players, I have a great desire to start. I have to work hard to have a career like my idol, Yaya Touré, who is a very complete footballer.”
