After undergoing hip surgery in January, the Japanese national hopes to return to competing in hard-court tournaments held in North America.
This week, the runners up for the 2014 US Open are scheduled to play at the Winston-Salem Open. However, the player who received the wildcard to appear in Winston-Salem returned the wildcard to the organizers. Most recently, he received a wildcard to enliven the San Diego Open which will start on September 19.
