Holiday After, Borneo FC Back to Training to Navigate Liga 1 –

Indonesian League 1 News: After taking a vacation in the last few days, after playing the second leg of the 2022 President’s Cup final, the Borneo FC squad is scheduled to return to training starting Thursday (21/7) afternoon. The players will be launched immediately because the Indonesian League 1 competition for the 2022/2023 season will soon roll over in the next few days.

In the 2022 President’s Cup pre-season tournament, Pesut Etam had to settle for the runner-up position, after losing to Arema FC in the final 1-0 on aggregate from a two-legged match.

“We gave the players a few days of rest (after the second leg final). Because during the tournament they had very little recovery time, especially after entering the quarter-finals until yesterday’s final,” said Borneo FC manager, Dandri Dauri as reported by the club’s official website.

Indeed, if you look at the frequency of matches, fatigue is sure to hit the players. Because they only have 4 days after the match for the next match, especially when they enter the semifinal phase of the 2022 President’s Cup. This hasn’t been added to the players’ travel time to Sleman and Malang at that time.

The impact also came, when Jonathan Bustos suffered a thigh injury and had not played in the second leg semifinals in Samarinda. Luckily, at that time Borneo FC was able to end the match with a 4-0 victory, after winning at home to PSS Sleman 2-0.

“Hopefully, the condition of the players will return to fit during training to prepare for the competition later,” he said.

Currently all players are still in Samarinda. The short vacation time given, makes players unable to return to their respective regions to meet their families.

“The majority of players from outside Samarinda and foreign players have brought their families to Samarinda at this time. So they do not return to the area after the President’s Cup ends,” Dandri concluded.

Borneo FC itself is scheduled to face Arema FC in the first week of Liga 1 2022/2023 at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, Sunday (24/7) afternoon WIB. The match was an opportunity for Pesut Etam to avenge the defeat in the final of the 2022 President’s Cup pre-season tournament.
