Transfer News: Chelsea are open to signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer and that attitude has been clearly conveyed to the Portuguese superstar’s agent.
Ronaldo is believed to have made clear his intention to leave Old Trafford in favor of playing in the Champions League next season, a year after he signed a two-year contract in the summer of 2021.
However, Manchester United insist that they have no intention of selling the striker, who scored 24 goals in all competitions last season.
Separately, super agent Jorge Mendes was recently reported to have met with Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boehly, to discuss a possible deal with the 37-year-old striker.
And, quoted from Sunday WorldBoehly “confirmed” during a meeting with Mendes that the Blues are ready to be an option for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chelsea are in search of a new striker after allowing Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan, but Ronaldo’s £480,000-a-week salary appears to need to be reduced for that move to materialize.
Talking about Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Manchester United last year, Blues manager Tjomas Tuchel revealed that he is a huge admirer of the former Real Madrid and Juventus star.
“I think it’s no secret that any team in the world without Cristiano (Ronaldo) in some part of the game is the weaker team,” said Tuchel.
“He’s one of the greatest to ever play this game, and he proves it every time he’s on the pitch.”
CheIsea is just one of many big teams who are rumored to be ready to accommodate Ronaldo, including Bayern Munich and also his former club Real Madrid.
