Transfer News: AC Milan have finally officially announced the arrival of Divock Origi from Liverpool on a free transfer after the striker underwent a medical and signed a contract with the club last week.
Origi’s contract with the Reds expired last June 30 and his transfer to the Rossoneri has actually been quite a while since he was completed. However, a minor injury caused his medical test to be delayed and the management of the Serie A giants also chose to wait a bit for the announcement of his arrival.
The Belgium international has signed a four-year contract with Il Diavolo as they announced on the club’s official website, and he will be a very helpful resource for Stefano Pioli. Previous news stated that he would pocket a salary of 3.5 million euros or IDR 54 billion per year, which would most likely be plus bonuses.
“AC Milan is delighted to announce the transfer of Divock Origi. The Belgian has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2026,” read a statement in the club’s official announcement.
The 27-year-old striker will compete with Olivier Giroud for the starting position next season as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is recovering from knee surgery he underwent some time ago. However, after the World Cup, the Swedish legend will return and then increase the competition in Milan’s attack. With the experience he has, the former Liverpool bomber doesn’t seem to be giving up on being a substitute.
